Named for the mountains where I came of age and truly began to learn how to live and play with nature. This vase features an undulating “landscape” rim that echoes the saddles and crests of the Blue Ridge.
I made a series of these vases and bowls by pigmenting my white porcelain, and layering a gradient of cobalt to create a stratified effect.
The exterior is brilliant unglazed porcelain, and the interior has a glossy clear glaze over the white clay.
