These cups have undulating ‘landscape’ rims that encourage you to slow down and focus your attention on the act of sipping. 
Making my rims like this also let me incorporate another subtle lesson I learned from a past teacher: when a cup room has a thick lip, the act of drinking deposits the liquid further back on the tongue where you have more sour and bitter taste receptors; a thin lip puts the liquid on the front of your tongue where you have more sweet receptors. 
A landscape rim lets me give the cup thick and thin lips, making the act of drinking quietly dynamic.
The exterior is brilliant unglazed porcelain, and the interior has a glossy clear glaze over the white clay.
