Apache-Tonto Sundown Floating Bowl
The landscape depicted here is patterned after the Apache/Tonto Park area of south-central Arizona. My time camping there has been crucial to my first understandings of what it meant to depict a natural place in art.
This bowl features a short “hidden” foot, taken in part from an iconic teabowl shape — which causes the piece to appear to float above the surface on which it sits.
The exterior is brilliant unglazed pigmented porcelain, and the interior has a clear gloss glaze.
Fully functional for any food use, though many clients use these works as standalone statement pieces.
